This is the heart-stopping moment a truck driver who was stuck on a level crossing narrowly avoided being struck by an oncoming train with only seconds to spare.

Footage shows the lorry stranded on the railway tracks as the motorist attempted to lift the automatic barrier while it was jammed in Haiphong, Vietnam.

Unable to raise the crossing arm, the driver quickly climbed back into the truck and swiftly reversed the vehicle, barely avoiding disaster as the coach hurtled towards the junction on Tuesday, April 8.

Authorities reminded motorists that failing to heed railway warning signals and attempting to cross the tracks when a train is approaching not only violates the law but also presents a significant risk to life and property.
