A smart stray cat smartly waited for the traffic to clear before crossing a road.

Footage shows the tabby perched calmly between barriers and an orange cone while looking left and right in Manila, the Philippines.

Once the last vehicle drove by, the street-smart feline stood up and confidently ambled to the other side at its own pace.

Pedestrians watching from the other lane can be heard cheering as the clever feline safely made it to the plant boxes, unharmed.

Onlooker Carol Anne Angeles said: 'Don't cross yet, don't cross yet. Okay, go, go, go.'

The girls clapped and laughed when the stray animal successfully navigated the road on March 7.

Carol added: 'The smart stray cat caught our attention. It was patiently waiting for traffic to clear before crossing the street.'
