TEAMS INSPECTING SITUATION AT HOSPITALGAZA, PALESTINE - APRIL 14: United Nations officials visited the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital, which was out of service due to Israeli attacks, on Monday, Apr. 14. Teams from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) inspected the hospital. Officials recorded the destroyed sections, especially the hospital's emergency room. Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital was the only hospital in Gaza City that was fully operational. Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in central Gaza was targeted Sunday by two Israeli missiles, which hit the hospital's emergency room, surgical operations building, and medical oxygen production station. The attack is said to have put the area's last operating hospital out of service. Attacks on health care facilities are classified as war crimes. The Israeli army renewed its assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a Jan. 19 ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. Nearly 51,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war.
