A girl was left dangling from the fourth floor of a building after her head became stuck between burglar bars.

Firefighters rescued the three-year-old girl from a 40ft drop in Sichuan, China, on April 8.

Footage shows a local man, 60, and a supermarket worker, 67, standing on an awning to assist in removing the child.

One firefighter can be seen aboard a turntable ladder while others were inside the home, working to detach the metal grills and lift the girl back to safety.

The child was reportedly rescued without serious injuries, aside from a minor abrasion on her neck.

The girl's grandfather, Mr Ye, said: 'I just went out for a while, and the kid got on a stool and climbed up to the window.'

He expressed gratitude to all those who helped save his granddaughter, who had been taking a nap when he briefly stepped out.
