A woman was found sitting on a crashed, overturned car in a river.

Rescuers were searching for five missing travellers when they discovered the injured woman sitting atop the sinking car in the Alaknanda River in Uttarakhand, India, on April 12.

Local media reported that the vehicle had plunged into the murky waters along the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway (NH 58).

Upon receiving the distress report, police and emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they located the woman by the riverbank, resting on the partially submerged vehicle.

She was quickly retrieved and sent to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Meanwhile, the team is currently searching for the other missing occupants.
