Rescuers unearthed around 20 kilogrammes of gold under the rubble after the deadly Myanmar earthquake.

Footage shows the large trove of gold that the Chongqing Blue Sky and Yunnan rescue teams recovered during operations in Mandalay on April 7.

Emergency responders can be seen standing nearby as some of the valuable is laid out on the side of a street under a parasol while onlookers take photos.

The salvaged precious metal, reportedly worth CNY 8 million (GBP 843,000), was handed over to the authorities for processing. Workers were praised for their honesty.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28, around 12:50 pm local time. More than 5,000 are believed to have died, and many more are injured.

In neighbouring Thailand, dozens of people were killed when an office block under construction collapsed in the capital, Bangkok.

Search-and-rescue operations remain ongoing in both countries, with numerous nations sending assistance and emergency responders to help with the disaster.
