Ecuador: Presidential candidate Luisa González rejects results and denounces electoral fraud in Ecuador
Quito, Ecuador - April 13, 2025 The presidential candidate of Ecuador for the political movement Citizen Revolution, Luisa González, stated after the second round of elections that she does not recognize the results presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which declared the current president, Daniel Noboa, the winner. She asserted that fraud was committed in the voter registration process to benefit him against the popular will. “In front of my people, standing up as always and as befits good women,” I want to “be very clear and emphatic… the Citizen Revolution has always acknowledged defeat when the polls have shown it to be so,” but “today we do not recognize the results,” she emphasized. "On behalf of the young men, women, and children I represent, we do not recognize the results presented.” “I refuse to believe that there are people who prefer lies to the truth. We are going to ask for a recount and for the polls to be opened.” The candidate denounced that the incumbent president abused his power. He never requested a leave of absence to campaign and used the CNE to impose his authoritarian agenda, she stated.
