Pigeon, United States - April 09, 2025 Clearing roads after the March 30–31 ice storm in northern Michigan is still in progress. The damage across the area is extensive. In one red pine plantation, trees coated in ice snapped under the weight. Many tree tops fell to the ground, leaving behind bare, stick-like trunks. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Incident Management Team was deployed to respond. They worked alongside the Michigan National Guard and other partners to ensure public safety. Response teams have already cleared more than 630 miles of roads. They also restored access to 34 communications towers. Efforts continue to bring the area back to normal after the severe weather event.
