This is the incredible moment a Turkish Bayraktar TB2 combat drone was sent into a controlled spin before successfully recovering and landing back at base.

The test flight took place in Kesan, Edirne, Turkey, on April 9.

The drone used its onboard control algorithms to autonomously stabilise and return to level flight without human intervention.

This manoeuvre, never before successfully performed by an armed unmanned aerial vehicle, demonstrates the platform's ability to recover from loss-of-control situations, significantly enhancing operational reliability.

The successful spin recovery highlights the drone's advanced flight control system, autonomous manoeuvring capabilities, and robust software infrastructure.

Earlier, on May 31, 2024, the Bayraktar TB2 also became the first UAV to autonomously perform a barrel roll.

The Bayraktar TB2 is classified as a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) tactical UAV designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and armed attack missions.

Its avionics suite includes a triple-redundant system that enables fully autonomous taxiing, take-off, cruising, and landing.

Bayraktar TB2 has accumulated over one million hours of operational flight, making it the first and only national aircraft to achieve this milestone in Turkish aviation history.
