This is the heart-wrenching moment a child was transported on a handcart to a third-world hospital in India due to a lack of emergency response.

The schoolboy, 13, was injured after falling from a high wall in Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, on April 12.

After multiple failed attempts to reach emergency services, the patient's family resorted to transporting him to the hospital themselves.

Footage shows his brother, 11, pushing a makeshift scrap cart with the injured boy lying inside. A woman, believed to be their mother, walks alongside them.

A frustrated resident said: 'This is the modern health infrastructure of India. These are the health facilities in the country.'

Local media reported that the child is currently receiving medical treatment.

India's healthcare system often suffers from poor infrastructure, a lack of medical personnel, and limited emergency services.

A 2020 report by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare revealed a shortfall of over three million healthcare workers in the country, with the shortage most pronounced in rural areas.
