Paris, France - March 06, 2025 On April 15, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. (local time), a massive fire broke out on the roof of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris while mass was being celebrated. The flames spread rapidly, destroying the spire, the roof, part of the vault, and the historic clock. The image of the collapsing spire was broadcast live around the world. Notre Dame, with more than 850 years of history, ceased to be just a French symbol: it became a global icon of loss, resilience, and reconstruction.
