Khartoum, Sudan - April 15, 2025 The Sudanese government has begun the rehabilitation of the Al-Jaili Oil Refinery, one of the most vital symbols of the country’s infrastructure. This refinery supplies the majority of Sudan’s petroleum needs, including gasoline, diesel, and other oil derivatives. Al-Jali Refinery had been under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for over a year and a half. During this time, the RSF used the facility as a main base, detention center, and a launch point for their operations toward the northern part of Bahri city in Sudan. The RSF looted, vandalized, and deliberately damaged parts of the refinery, in addition to the destruction caused by clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF.
