Los Angeles, United States - April 15, 2025 04/15/2025 11:41 am (GMT-0700) SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. – A mudslide caused significant disruptions on the southbound lanes of State Route 110 near Fair Oaks Tuesday afternoon. At approximately 11:24 a.m., a mudslide was reported, blocking the right three lanes of the highway. Officers responding to the scene received additional reports of vehicles swerving and near misses as drivers navigated the hazardous conditions created by the mud and debris. Arriving officers found a considerable amount of mud and debris in the roadway blocking the third lane, along with flowing water that led crews to suspect the slide was caused by a broken sprinkler line. The debris was not visible until drivers were close, raising concerns about potential traffic collisions. At 11:41 a.m., the California Highway Patrol requested Caltrans to assist with cleanup efforts. A Sig Alert was also issued at this time to warn drivers of slow lanes being affected. Officers conducted round robin traffic breaks to slow vehicles as they approached the area. Upon Caltrans’s arrival, all lanes were temporarily shut down as crews worked to establish a hard closure and clear the debris from the roadway. Crews used a bulldozer to move the debris to nearby embankments and also loaded it into dump trucks for removal. As of 3 p.m., the situation remained ongoing, with lane closures of the number 2 and 3 lanes. Traffic management was in effect while roadway conditions continued to be assessed, and debris was removed.
