Recently, at an ocean park in Quanzhou, Fujian, a spotted seal has gone viral for its unique “military posture” stance.

The seal crosses its two rear flippers and plants them on the ground like feet, while letting its front flippers hang down, standing upright in the water with its body perfectly straight—so much so that it resembles a soldier standing at attention.

According to Mr. Lin, a keeper at the Quanzhou Ocean Park, the seal is named Bobo and is 4 years old. When standing upright, Bobo reaches a height of about 1.3 metres. Mr. Lin noted that Bobo has strong observational skills, and its behaviour may be a result of mimicking humans. Interestingly, Bobo’s pose has even inspired other seals in the park to imitate it.
