The campaign was initiated due to growing difficulties in securing all types of blood units amid ongoing Israeli attacks. Residents across Gaza have responded by donating blood to help meet the urgent demand. Patients with chronic illnesses and those injured in Israeli strikes face life-threatening risks if unable to access compatible blood supplies. Campaign organizers noted that Israeli attacks have targeted their facilities and disrupted the supply of empty blood bags. All donated blood will undergo required testing before being delivered to hospitals in need. The Israeli army renewed a deadly assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. At least 51,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
