US: Firefighters Battle Wind Driven Blaze At Latitude Apartments In Indianapolis

Indianapolis, United States - April 14, 2025 A heavy fire broke out on the third floor of an apartment building at 6611 Greenwich Drive in the Latitude Apartments. The incident happened at 4:15 PM. Two people were slightly injured and transported for medical care. Ten residents were displaced due to the fire. The Indianapolis Fire Department, assisted by the Greenwood Fire Department, made an aggressive stop. Strong winds pushed the fire into the attic and across the building. Twelve units were affected, with four sustaining heavy fire damage. Firefighters brought the blaze under control in 29 minutes. IFD Victims Assistance and the Red Cross are working with apartment management to help the displaced. Multiple animals were rescued by both residents and firefighters. One cat died, and another cat is currently unaccounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
