WIDE SHOT OF BURNED BELONGINGS AND RUBBLE AT BOMBED AREA KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - APRIL 17: At least 15 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed early Thursday in an Israeli airstrike targeting tents sheltering displaced civilians in the southern Gaza Strip, according to local sources. Gaza’s civil defence said the Israeli army struck tents in in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, where many Palestinians had sought refuge after being displaced by ongoing Israeli military operations. Large fires engulfed the makeshift shelters after the bombing as residents scrambled to rescue people trapped inside the burning tents. Some victims were reportedly burned to death in the attack. The casualties were transported to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, local health authorities said. The strike occurred amid a renewed Israeli military offensive that began on March 18, following a temporary cease-fire that had been in place since January 19. Since the resumption of hostilities, 1,652 Palestinians — mostly women, children, and the elderly — have been killed, and 4,391 others injured, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
