Worshipers attended the service, singing hymns, lighting candles, and offering prayers for peace amid the ongoing conflict. Good Friday is part of Holy Week, which includes Holy Thursday (commemorating the Last Supper) and culminates in Easter Sunday, celebrating Jesus' resurrection. Israel resumed its attacks in Gaza on March 18, shattering a two-month truce. More than 51,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Israel's ongoing genocidal war on Gaza since October 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
