Moelfre, United Kingdom - April 16, 2025 A dog stranded on a cliff ledge was rescued by Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) crews after chasing a ball on the afternoon of April 16. The crew at Moelfre RNLI had just returned from a training session when the dog's owner asked for help. Her spaniel, Ember, had gotten into trouble near the cliffs. Members of the public reported hearing Ember barking but could not see her because of the difficult location. The ledge was close to the lifeboat station. Two RNLI crew members, wearing drysuits and lifejackets, waded and swam to reach Ember. Moelfre RNLI Coxswain Vince Jones said they heard Ember barking as they entered the water. The ledge was inaccessible from the cliff top. After a few moments of calming Ember down, the crew secured a lead on her and safely rescued her. Ember was reunited with her owner, who had acted correctly by seeking professional help. Jones reminded the public to never attempt a rescue themselves. Instead, he advised calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard. He also recommended keeping pets on a lead near cliffs or piers.
