Google Maps Misguides Wedding Guests onto Railway Tracks in Uttar Pradesh; Car Hit by Speeding Train
A terrifying incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi district on the night of April 14-15, when Google Maps allegedly misled a group of wedding guests, nearly causing a fatal accident. The incident took place near Magarpur Railway Station in the Sakrar police station area.
Three men were traveling to Lalitpur in a Bolero SUV, relying on Google Maps for navigation. While following the directions, the driver inadvertently ended up at a railway crossing. As they attempted to cross the tracks, the vehicle got stuck in the gravel.
The driver tried frantically to move the vehicle, but before they could free it, the high-speed Bundelkhand Express came rushing toward them. The three occupants jumped out of the car just in time to save their lives. Seconds later, the train rammed into the SUV, dragging its mangled remains a short distance before coming to a halt. Reports indicate there was no railway gate at the crossing.
Thanks to the emergency brakes applied by the locomotive pilot, the train narrowly avoided derailing. The impact was so severe that it tore the car apart. Railway PRO Manoj Kumar Singh stated that the car owner was identified through the number plate, and a case has been registered under railway laws for further action.
