A terrified homeowner took shelter as a thunderstorm blew the roof off her house in Thailand.

Footage shows Waraporn Chantharang crawling under the wooden floor of the home as powerful gales hit her residence in Uthai Thani, on April 17.

The winds ripped zinc roofing from the structure and also blew away pots from her kitchen.

A village officer said more than 20 houses in the area were damaged.

The Thai Meteorological Department today, April 21, warned of extremely high temperatures, isolated thunderstorms, and gusty winds in northern Thailand.

The agency said the weather conditions were caused by a low-pressure system caused by heat, and southerly and southwesterly winds blowing across the region.
