A juvenile elephant played with water with kids to join Songkran celebrations in Thailand.

Footage shows the four-year-old tusker, named Phauek Sichai Phum, dipping its trunk in a basin to spray water back at children in Chaiyaphum.

Phauek Sichai Phum's leathery body was painted white and soft pink flowers to match its caretaker's floral shirt.

The baby jumbo was gently soaked by water guns targeting it while making low trumpeting sounds on April 13.

Animal camp caretaker Haruthai Phanwiset said: 'Little Phauek plays in the water during Songkran at home.'

Songkran is the traditional Thai New Year festival, celebrated annually from April 13 to 15. It is one of the most important holidays in Thailand, known for its nationwide water fights where people splash water on each other to symbolise cleansing and renewal.
