A toddler adorably called for her mum as she was gently lowered in a harness during an Easter Sunday presentation.

Five-year-old Jorgeina Kassidy Barcelona played the role of an angel tasked with lifting the mourning veil from a statue of the Virgin Mary - but her little arms were too short to reach it.

Footage shows Jorgeina dangling on a rope, stretching to grab the piece of black cloth.

She said: 'Mama, I cannot reach it.'

Despite the slight mishap, the spirited youngster continued with her performance, moving along with the rest of the ceremony.

Jorgeina finally removed the thin veil and was pulled upwards, delighting the crowd.

The little girl played the angel in the traditional 'Salubong,' a Filipino Catholic ritual held on Easter Sunday, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

It reenacts the meeting of the risen Christ and the Virgin Mary. Two separate processions are held - one with a statue of the Risen Christ and another with the mourning Virgin Mary, usually veiled in black.
