This is the terrifying moment a frying pan caught fire after a housewife stepped out of the kitchen for a moment.

Footage shows the mother pouring a generous amount of oil into the cookware while the gas stove was on before briefly leaving the room.

Moments later, the pan began to emit smoke, and flames soon erupted, growing rapidly in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Thailand.

The heavy black haze alerted the mum as it started to engulf the house on June 7.

She rushed back into the food prep area, turned off the LPG and the stove, then courageously grabbed the flaming pan and moved it outside to prevent the fire from spreading further.

No one was injured in the incident.

Authorities reminded the public: 'Always keep an eye on what you're cooking, and check if the LPG is on to avoid similar accidents.'
