This is the heartwarming moment a kind local helped a stranded stray dog during a flood.

Nat Napa and his neighbours spotted the hapless brown canine stuck on a pile of sandbags, surrounded by currents in Ratchaburi, Thailand, on April 9.

Footage captured by Nat shows a woman wading through knee-deep water, attempting to rescue the whimpering animal.

However, she returned to the bank upon seeing her friend, realising he would be better able to carry the dog safely without risking a fall.

The man then approached the anxious pup, which wagged its tail excitedly upon seeing its rescuer.

He gently lifted the creature out of the floodwaters, carefully inched across the sandbags, and placed it safely on dry ground.
