On April 15th, in a braised meat shop in Anhui, China, the shop owner was about to bag a braised duck for a customer when he noticed it had a strange smell. He immediately offered to replace it with a larger, fresher one.

As he turned around to get the new duck, the ceiling suddenly collapsed, and a pile of debris fell right where he had been standing just moments earlier. Thanks to his decision to swap the duck, he narrowly escaped injury.

Shaken, the owner even dropped the pot lid in shock. He later remarked, “If I had no conscience in doing business, maybe I would’ve been hit as karma.”
