A pilot was killed when his training flight crashed in a village in India.

The aviator succumbed to burns after the aircraft plunged to the ground and caught fire in Amreli, Gujarat, on April 22 afternoon.

Footage shows the aircraft engulfed in flames with the victim still inside.

Firefighters were able to control the blaze before retrieving the unconscious pilot.

In another clip, emergency responders can be seen transporting him on a stretcher. He was then rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.

Fire Officer HC Gadhavi said: 'We received information about the plane crash and immediately deployed a team for rescue efforts.

'We brought the fire under control. The pilot of the plane was visible inside. The pilot was sent to the hospital. The pilot died in the accident.'

Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash.
