A Soviet-era plane landed with one propeller after the pilot was forced to shut down the engine mid-flight.

Footage shows the aeroplane safely touching down on the tarmac with only a single rotor in its left wing moving in Yakutsk, in Russia, on April 15.

The aircraft, an Antonov An-24, is a twin turboprop originally designed in 1957.

It landed with only its left engine working, while the propeller on the right wing was turned off.

The Polar Airlines aircraft, which had taken off from Zyryanka, encountered a technical malfunction during the flight when the oil level in its right engine dropped dramatically.

As a safety precaution, the captain decided to shut off the engine's power.

Despite the difficult situation, the pilots managed to continue the flight and made a smooth landing at Yakutsk airport.

It is unclear how many people were onboard, but the airline said there were no injuries.
