The Jones Road Wildfire broke out Tuesday morning in the Greenwood Forest Wildlife Management Area near Barnegat Township and remains only 10% contained as of Tuesday night, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Strong winds and dry conditions fueled the flames, threatening over 1,300 structures and forcing 3,000 residents to evacuate. Authorities have closed a section of the Garden State Parkway, a major highway in the state, as thick smoke reduced visibility and air quality.
