EMERGENCY CENTER BUILDING (TWO SHOTS)DEIR AL-BALAH, PALESTINE - APR. 23, 2025: Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) workers staged a protest Tuesday, Apr. 22, outside the emergency center in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, to honor more than 15 colleagues killed in recent Israeli strikes on Rafah. During the demonstration, participants called on the international community to independently investigate alleged human rights violations. “We demand justice for our colleagues,” said Dr. Bashar Murad, director of the PRCS in Gaza. “Health workers are protected under international law, yet what we have witnessed in recent days shocks the conscience of all humanity.” Israel resumed its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip on March 18, abandoning a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. It has killed nearly 51,300 Palestinians in the enclave since October 2023, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
