Police discovered 150kg of suspected cocaine hidden in the hull of a container ship in Spain.

Divers, part of a joint operation with the National Police and the Customs Surveillance Service, found at least five bags of alleged drugs concealed in a hollow compartment in the submerged part of the vessel.

Footage shows authorities seizing the bags containing the suspected illegal substances.

Officials said the investigation began in early April when the DEA informed them about an international criminal organisation planning to smuggle a large shipment of cocaine into Spain via Vigo.

When the suspected vessel docked, a coordinated inspection of the area was carried out.

Divers and agents then discovered the bags, each containing 30kg of the alleged cocaine.

In a separate incident earlier this month, Spanish police seized 50kg of cocaine bound for the UK.

Officers confiscated the illegal items hidden in a truck in Madrid, with four individuals arrested during the operation.

The investigation into the criminal organisation allegedly smuggling drugs from Spain to other countries began in early March.
