Rio Grande City, United States - April 17, 2025 A dramatic video captures the daily dangers faced by troopers and the serious risks posed by criminal smugglers to the motoring public. A smuggler recklessly evaded troopers, crashing into multiple vehicles and endangering innocent drivers before fleeing on foot. The smuggler jumped into the Rio Grande, attempting to swim across to Mexico. As he struggled in the water, troopers acted quickly, deploying a rescue line and taking him into custody. Inside the smuggler's vehicle, troopers discovered five illegal immigrants. The smuggler now faces felony charges for human smuggling. Troopers continue their efforts to combat and disrupt criminal activity under Operation Lone Star. The mission continues.
