What started as a routine traffic stop in Brook Park, Ohio quickly escalated into an 11-mile pursuit that crossed city lines and ended in dramatic fashion. The driver, 52-year-old Sol Johnson, ignored lawful commands, threw his vehicle into gear, and sped off—apparently assuming Brook Park officers would let it slide.

They didn’t.

With support from the Garfield Heights Police Department and K9 Odin on the scene, officers pursued Johnson until he was cornered with nowhere else to run. In a disturbing twist, the suspect reportedly asked officers to shoot him. They refused, de-escalating the situation and safely taking him into custody instead. Johnson now faces felony Fleeing and Eluding charges and is being held in Brook Park jail.

The department credited swift teamwork and calm professionalism for ending the chase without injury. K9 Odin, ever vigilant, stood ready—but didn’t need to act.
