A French court is expected to deliver its verdict on Tuesday. Le Pen, who was President Emmanuel Macron’s main challenger in the previous elections and has already announced her candidacy for 2027, faces allegations of misusing European Parliament funds. She is accused of paying two individuals with EU money for fictitious advisory roles during her term as a Member of the European Parliament. She, her party, and about two dozen party figures are accused of misusing more than €3 million ($3.27 million) in European Parliament funds to pay party staff in France.
