Over 100 debuts, 1,000 auto brands and an estimated 100,000 daily visitors. This is Auto Shanghai 2025, one of the biggest auto shows in the world. As cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence quickly evolves, "intelligence" is what every auto maker chases... and many recognize China as a key player in shaping the future of their business. (Sound_bite) Alexander Pollich, CEO, Porsche China: "Clearly, this is a very dynamic market. Intelligent vehicle features are extremely important. That's the reason why we have set up our China R and D. We have bundled all our capabilities, all our technical experiences in one division, in one location, R&D procurement, quality, engineering and also digitalization." (Voice_over) This auto part maker is an industry leader in making cockpits, and now they present for the first time an intelligent cockpit system led by its Chinese team. The cockpit aims to create a future when you don't need car keys anymore. (Sound_bite) Michael Brandstetter, Executive Vice President, Exterior, Brose: "As the Chinese market is getting more and more important related in innovation, especially in technology and connectivity, in comfort functions, we as Brose will also move more innovation task completely globally to China, to be on site, on the market where also the demands and the end consumers are, which is giving us inputs." (Voice_over) Some auto makers are looking into China's fast-developing AI sector. This one works with Volcano Engine, a large model developed by China's tech giant ByteDance to make its products more intelligent. (Sound_bite) Wei Wei, Vice President, Visteon China: "AI will no doubt develop more in China. That's why we hit it off immediately with Volcano Engine two years ago, hoping to combine our advantages and lead the automobile industry. With the industry's development in the past two years, especially in chip computing, we have finally made an idea into a final product." (Voice_over) Auto Shanghai 2025 will last until May 2, and organizers expect some 1.3 million visitors. Initiated in 1985, the biannual event has become a window into the future of the automobile industry and a platform for car makers to win the world's biggest car market.
