A Thai beauty clinic gives bizarre pink kneecap tattoos to customers to make them look fresher, with more than 500 requests a DAY for the treatment.

The Tik Ka Oo shop in Bangkok applies the unusual rash-like tattoos on women seeking a more youthful appearance.

Clinic owner Tik claimed that instead of blushing cheeks, rosy kneecaps are the latest beauty trend in Asian countries like Vietnam and South Korea, where cosmetic procedures and enhancement have become a lucrative industry.

Footage shows her injecting the bright pink pigment into a client's kneecaps, forming a pink bruise-like patch on her white skin. Unlike regular tattoos, the ink fades over time and needs to be reapplied.

Tik said: 'One of my regulars came back from Vietnam and asked me to tattoo her kneecaps pink.

'I was curious, so I did some research, tested the technique on friends, and eventually found the right procedure.

'The results shocked my customers because they said they'd never seen anything like it before. Now, I get more than 500 messages a day in my inbox from people asking about the service.

'I do admit that not everyone reacts positively. Some people criticise the appearance, while others love how unique it looks and want to try it for themselves. I make sure to explain the full process to every customer in detail before beginning.'

Each knee tattoo costs 4,000 baht (90 GBP). Tik also offers other bizarre procedures such as genital, heel, and armpit tattoos, as well as more traditional services like eyelash and hair extensions.

Her satisfied client, Chatchada Kaetnamthieng, 38, said: 'I spent a long time researching after seeing the tattoos. I was scared of needles at first, but the positive reviews on Facebook gave me confidence.

'After my first session with eyeshadow, blush, and Dolly eye tattoos, everyone complimented me, and I started recommending the shop.

'I trust Tik completely now since she gives honest advice and never pressures anyone. Sometimes she even offers some treatments for free.

'I even brought friends with me because the prices are affordable. I'm still deciding if I want the pink kneecap tattoo but I'm not too worried about Tik making mistakes. I've been visiting her clinic for two years without a single issue.'

Pale skin and delicate frames have long been the beauty standard in the Far East, stretching back as far as the Geishas of Japan.

The unusual trend for pink knees is believed to be connected to signs of youthfulness, innocence and a pampered life.
