This is the heartwarming moment a kitten was rescued from a car engine.

The feline was snuggled under the bonnet of the sedan when it was discovered by the driver Cat, 20, on April 12.

She said she and her mother were returning home after lunch when they heard the kitten mewling under the machinery. Unable to reach the baby animal herself, she called animal rescuers for help.

Footage shows the team reaching into the engine compartment to fish out the black-and-white moggie, which was still unable to open its eyes.

Cat said: 'I have no idea how the newborn kitten got into my car. I don't even have a cat, and I had driven a long way from home without stopping. This is actually the fifth time something like this has happened to me. Three other cats had previously sneaked into my car in Bangkok.

'I truly believe these cats are a blessing, especially during the Songkran festival. This little one looks a bit like a panda, and I'm planning to take it to a vet to see if I can keep it. I hope it will serve as a good luck charm and keep me and my family safe from accidents.'
