MAN ADDRESSING PROTESTERS (2 SHOTS) SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, US - APRIL 25: Pro-Palestinian activists gathered outside the Federal Building in San Francisco on Friday, Apr. 25, as part of the Global Day of Action for Gaza, condemning Israel's military offensive and accusing the United States of complicity in the ongoing conflict. The demonstration, organized by a coalition of Palestine solidarity groups, including the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), the US Palestine Community Network, and the ANSWER Coalition, called for an immediate arms embargo against Israel and an end to what they described as a "genocide" in Gaza. In a joint statement, the groups claimed that the U.S. government has enabled Israel’s military campaign by supplying weapons and providing diplomatic support, despite the International Criminal Court (ICC) recently issuing arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “For 18 months, Gaza has faced a US-backed, Israeli-led genocide—a deliberate campaign targeting every aspect of Palestinian life,” said PYM. “We owe it to every martyr, every prisoner, and to all those who came before us to demand an end to this genocide.” Protesters urged people across the U.S. and Canada to mobilize against continued military aid to Israel, demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Similar demonstrations were reported in cities worldwide as part of the coordinated Global Day of Action. Israel resumed attacks in Gaza on March 18, ending a January truce. More than 51,400 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
