Thanks to the mediation of the World Health Organization (WHO), the group, trapped in Jenine neighborhood, had been evacuated and transported to the European Hospital. Members of the Sheikh family, stated that the days spent in the neighborhood were under inhumane conditions, and that basic necessities for survival had been completely ran out. They reported that there was no food nor clean water in the area, health services had come to a complete halt, and all attempts to leave the neighborhood had failed due to constant bombardments and road blockades. Many sick and injured people lost their lives due to a lack of medical intervention, according to the family members. They described the conditions they endured as a tragedy incompatible with an honorable human life. The Jenine neighborhood stands out as one of the most heavily besieged areas under Israel’s latest military operations, targeting Rafah. Humanitarian aid deliveries into the neighborhood have been blocked, and civilians’ freedom of movement has been completely restricted. Despite repeated appeals by international aid organizations, aid could not reach the area. Officials at the European Hospital reported that most of the evacuated civilians were suffering from severe exhaustion, advanced malnutrition, and various health problems; many of them urgently required medical attention. Israel has killed nearly 51,500 Palestinians in Gaza since a cross-border attack by Hamas in October 2023. The UN has warned that the entire Gaza Strip, home to over 2 million people, could soon face famine as aid kitchens are expected to fully run out of food. Israel’s blockade since March 2 has prevented the entry of food, fuel, and medicine into the enclave for two months.
