Brave Firefighter Rescues Terrified Cat Stuck 25 Feet High in Indiana
For firefighters, charging into burning buildings or handling high-speed rescues is just another day on the job. But, according to the Carmel, Indiana Fire Department, one of the scariest tasks might just be locking eyes with a terrified cat 25 feet up a tree.
In a playful social media post, the department shared the story of a recent rescue where #Dillybars Tyler—affectionately referred to as the "probie"—was sent up a wobbly ladder to save a tiny, unpredictable ball of fluff. "At any second, this tiny, unpredictable ball of fluff (armed with razor-sharp teeth and claws) could launch itself at our brave rescuer," they joked. "That’s why we always send the probie."
The cat’s owner was quick to praise the firefighters’ speedy and selfless actions, commenting, "You guys are amazing and came in less than 5 minutes from when I called!! Thank you so much to everyone and especially Tyler, for getting up the wiggly ladder (and to our neighbors for getting it out) to help our cat! We appreciate all you do, and everyone’s help!!!"
Once again, Carmel firefighters proved they'll come to the rescue anytime—whether it's a house fire or a stranded feline with no exit plan.
