An ammonium nitrate explosion struck a port in Iran, killing at least 40 workers and injuring more than 1,000 others.

The massive blast, reportedly linked to a shipment of a chemical ingredient used in missile propellant, rocked Shahid Rajaee Port in Bandar on Saturday, April 26.

Dramatic footage shows a huge mushroom cloud rising into the sky just after midday. Officials confirmed that 190 of the injured remain hospitalised.

The shockwave caused widespread damage to nearby industrial complexes, prompting an immediate response from ambulances, fire crews, and military vehicles.

Authorities swiftly shut down the refinery and surrounding industries to prevent potential domino effects in the critical port area.

Investigations are ongoing as emergency teams work to contain any secondary hazards.
