A bungling firefighter trainee accidentally hit his instructor in the face with the hose.

The youngsters joined a free training session with the local fire department, but one of the volunteers lost grip on the nozzle.

Footage shows the pair fixated on hitting the target as the trainer raised the green flag in Bulacan, the Philippines.

However, they both lost focus when the red flag was finally hoisted, signalling that they had surpassed the test.

The duo cheered with a high five and forgot about the hose, sending a powerful surge into the proctor's face.

Trainee Mikee Casquejo said: 'My partner was nervous and forgot to hold the hose properly.'

The team members were startled and fled as the teenagers sprayed at them before the line was turned off.

The youngsters apologised afterwards, while their teacher was not seriously hurt during the session on March 22.
