A massive power cut has hit large parts of Spain and Portugal, impacting travel, traffic lights, and payment systems.

Footage from April 28 shows shops without power in Madrid as well as traffic conductors stepping in for traffic lights left without power.

Ewan Wilson, the filmer, told Newsflare: "The high street is littered with dark shops, some with their automatic doors only half closed. Not even pharmacies are functioning. Local markets have also shut there gates for the day.

"The police are managing the chaotic traffic as the traffic lights are no longer functioning."

A power crisis has affected Spain, Portugal and parts of France.
