Grandfather, 76, achieves lifelong dream of finally graduating
A grandfather proudly walked up the stage to receive his diploma as he achieved his lifelong dream of graduating from high school.
Salvador Bongcawil, 76, worked during the day and studied at night through the Alternative Learning System of a school in Agusan del Sur, Philippines.
Footage shows Salvador being assisted by his son as he approaches the teachers who awarded him a certificate.
He shook the hands of the instructors firmly and smiled for the photos during the ceremony on April 15.
Pupil Jollius Martinez Hayahay said: 'Age is just a number. We were so proud of him.
'His perseverance inspired us and proved that one can achieve anything with hard work.'
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) in the Philippines is an educational program that provides opportunities for out-of-school youth, adults, and individuals who cannot attend formal schooling due to various reasons.
