US: Passengers Evacuate As Police Swarm St Petersburg Clearwater Airport Over Bomb Threat
St. Petersburg, United States - April 25, 2025 On April 25, X user Sara Seay published a video showing police closing the St Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport (PIE) due to an active bomb threat. The video captures people leaving a plane and walking away while police officers with dogs enter the aircraft to check for explosives. Seay said she had a front row view of the action. She praised the professionalism of the crew, airport personnel, and law enforcement. She mentioned that the photos and videos were taken in real time with her iPhone. She welcomed others to use and share them. Seay expressed her gratitude that everyone remained safe during the incident. Operations at the airport resumed Friday evening after several hours of closure due to the security incident. According to officials, a flight attendant on a plane bound for Cincinnati found a note containing a bomb threat just before 5 p.m. The threat mentioned all Allegiant planes, but no explosives were found in or around the airport or in any planes. The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said K-9 deputies, assisted by other agencies, investigated the threat. No injuries were reported, and there was no danger to the public. Passengers, including Kathleen Nelson, were evacuated from the Allegiant plane and asked to leave personal items behind. Allegiant Airlines confirmed that Flight 2006, scheduled for Cincinnati, was delayed due to the possible security issue and stated that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority.
