Vendors were seen clinging desperately to their tents as strong winds and heavy rain battered an open-air market.

Footage shows the sellers struggling to hold down their stalls as gusts threatened to blow them away in Lopburi, Thailand.

The parasols flapped while some of the containers had been knocked over by the force of the storm on April 7.

Some of the locals gathered their merchandise and packed up, tying their roofs with a rope, letting the weather soak them.

Resident Jakkrit Champa said: 'The summer storm came at the Ban Khok Charoen Market. It was sudden, so we did not have enough time to leave.'

Thailand is at the start of its annual monsoon rainy season. The intense daily downpours last from May until late October, leading to widespread flash floods and damage.
