A dramatic rescue unfolded when the fire and rescue team was called to save a goat that had become trapped on a sunshade of an apartment building.

The incident occurred in Eloor, Kochi, Kerala, southern India, on April 25.

Visuals from the scene show the rescue team arriving at the apartment, where the goat is seen stranded on a sunshade. One team member climbs over the building's railing, holding a bunch of leaves in an attempt to lure the goat closer for a safe rescue. However, the goat remains unresponsive. Meanwhile, another rescuer climbs a horizontal beam just above the sunshade and tries to secure the animal with a rope. The goat, startled, runs to a different corner, landing on a platform just below the balcony. This change in position allows police officers standing on the balcony to reach the animal. One officer manages to grab the goat and pass it to another standing on the balcony. Despite the goat's aggressive bleating, they successfully secure it with a rope around its neck. The goat is later released onto the lawn.

Speaking to Newslions Media, Rasheed, a Senior Fire and Rescue Officer, Eloor Fire Station, Kerala, told that the rescue operation took place on Friday afternoon at an apartment building in Kalamassery at the residence of A M Joseph, where a goat got stuck on the second floor of the building, which is home to five families.

Upon arrival, the rescue team faced a challenge as the goat became aggressive, attempting to charge at the rescuers and moving around the sunshade, making the task more difficult. After nearly 30 minutes of effort, the team successfully secured the goat with a rope and brought it down safely.

An officer explained, "Only one person could barely stand on the sunshade. The goat kept moving, which complicated the rescue. It likely wandered in by accident while grazing nearby. As no one claimed it, we released it in the compound. People often leave cattle to graze in the area."

The rescue operation was led by Stephen M V, in charge of the Eloor fire station, and involved team members Mahesh M, Shyamkumar M S, Sajith Kumar E K, Sunilkumar K R, and James T X.
