Thousands of citizens lined the streets waving national flags as military units marched in formation, honoring the historic victory that led to the unification of North and South Vietnam in 1976. The celebrations reflected national pride and remembrance, highlighting Vietnam’s journey from war to peace and development. The Vietnam War (1955–1975) was a major Cold War conflict between communist North Vietnam and U.S.-backed South Vietnam. It ended in 1975 when North Vietnamese forces captured Saigon, paving the way for reunification under communist rule as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
