Storyline: Personalized demand drives China's car modification market [Voice_over] China's car modification market is seeing roaring demand this year, as more people give their cars a facelift both inside and out. Official data shows that the country's car modification market registered 15 percent growth last year, with the market value hitting about 16.4 billion U.S.dollars. New energy car owners are amongst those seeking modifications. [Sound_bite] Jia Zhenghua, Car Owner: "I make modifications periodically to make it more comfortable, for example, by adding electric seats or the intelligent driving system." [Sound_bite] Shen Yuanxi, Car owner: "The new energy cars are equipped with battery packs, so they are heavier than traditional gasoline cars. I gave an upgrade to the shock absorption system to improve the comfort." [Voice_over] The manager of a car body work shop in Nanjing City says their business began heating up last year. [Sound_bite] Zhan Bin, Manager, car service company in Nanjing City: "We have been overwhelmed with new orders, with about 180 to 200 cars being modified every month. We saw a 30 to 35 percent increase in orders, compared with previous years." [Voice_over] That's also because last year some domestic auto brands began setting up special production lines for modified car models, which have gradually built a following among young buyers. Data from the Ministry of Public Security shows that, of the 353 million cars on Chinese roads last year, 31.4 million were new energy vehicles. [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
