Los Angeles, United States - April 30, 2025 04/29/2025 10:54 pm GMT-0700 VERMONT VISTA, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department officers from the 77th Division reported a two-car crash at the intersection of Century and Vermont. They requested the Los Angeles Fire Department to respond and asked for a South Traffic unit due to the possibility of a fatality. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found that the collision had sheared off a fire hydrant, causing water to shoot approximately 20 feet into the air. The crew struggled to locate the valve to shut the hydrant off and subsequently requested assistance from the Department of Water and Power. Additionally, a light standard was knocked down and was leaning against a wall. One female passenger in a red SUV was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, while the male driver of a white sedan reported no injuries. Witnesses stated that a white minivan had been fleeing from officers when it ran a red light and crashed into the red SUV. LAPD officers inquired with dispatch about any pursuit of the vehicle, but it appeared that no officers were engaged in a chase at the time of the incident.
